Utilizing the Internet

Regarding our staff meeting last Thursday, as I mentioned, we will be discussing all of the information in further detail beginning this week - in all probability on Thursday. For those that missed the meeting, or a recap for those that were there, we discussed the following:

Creating Great Content - Everyone has put a lot of time, energy and effort into creating great content. And we're gonna continue that. We're gonna concentrate on creating great content only this content has the potential to reach significantly more people. This content will utilize a bigger distribution system - one that is ubiquitous - the Internet.

Everything you have done website was in preparation of taking it to the next level. We are now taking it to the next level. We will be using each of the channel websites to house all of the great content that you will create. Content that takes the form of various things:

- Blogs
- Podcasts
- Widgets

We know there are more people in our specific communities than are listening to our channels and we need to reach them. We can reach them by engaging them by creating great content for them on the web. Content that has the same attributes as your on-air content. Content that is unique, compelling and exclusive. Content that appeals to them and that keeps them coming back to your page again and again.

Goals:
The goal in all of this content creation for the web is to aggregate hits. All of this content will achieve the goal of driving people to your site thus aggregating hits to your site and therefore the overall WorldSpace website. And by aggregating substantial amounts of hits, we are able to generate revenue.

Again, what we are doing with this web-based content is the same as what you are doing with your on-air channel. You are creating content that serves your community. This content will entertain, inform and enrich the members of your community. The ultimate goal is for your website to become the HUB for that particular community. To serve as their guide, their filtger and the aggregator for all community related content. These communities are NOT bound by our satellite subscribers.

This week we will focus on HOW to create this great content for the web. What are the vehicles? What are the tools? What makes a great blog? Why do we need widgets? Who else is doing this kind of stuff and how are they doing it?

Stay tuned.
